Rising Stars and Council Join Forces to Mentor Youth

The NBITC and Rising Stars are pleased to announce they will be teaming up to provide mentoring to students selected as part of the Class of 2011, and Class of 2012.  The two organizations will work together to match individual students to mentors, refine Rising Star’s existing mentoring frame-work, and implement regular networking and coaching events for the two cohorts.

George Erb and Brian Freeman Join NBITC Board

George Erb, of ScotiaBank, and Brian Freeman of ROC Consulting Group are the most recent additions to the NBITC Board.

As Director and Group Lead, Commercial Banking,and a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, George brings over 30 years of financial experience to the Board.

Brian has extensive Operations Management, Strategic Planning and Implementation, and Business Development, experience within Government as well as Advanced Technology Industries such as the nuclear industry and ICT.

Council Announces Initiative to Map the ICT Sector in New Brunswick

The NBITC is partnering with the Province and ACOA to establish a more accurate picture of the breadth, depth, and impact of the ICT sector in New Brunswick.   The intent is to make use of the data to help shape policy aimed at increasing ICT`s contribution to the Provincial economy, and to establish a baseline that can used to determine to what extent new and existing programs are effective.

The NBITC will be following up on the success of the Class of 2011, with a Class of 2012.  The program will guarantee jobs to a select group of students graduating from New Brunswick highschools in 2012 provided they complete a relevant post-secondary degree or diploma.  

The Class of 2012 will be virtually identical to the Class of 2011, which selected 25 students from across the Province, with the exception the Council is looking to increase the number of students selected.

 Dave Grebenc, COO of Innovatia, assumed the position of Chair of the Board of the NBITC at the recent AGM in Dieppe. Joining Dave on the Executive are Roman Coba, CIO of McCain, who was elected as Vice-Chair, CEO Larry Sampson, Derrick Smith, CIO of Assomption Vie, who will assume the role of Secretary, and out-going Chair Geoff Flood, CEO of T4G.

The Annual General Meeting of the New Brunswick Information Technology Council will be held on Novermber 18th, from 3:00-5:00PM at the Centre des Arts et de la Culture in Dieppe.  Members of the public are welcome to attend.

L'assemblée générale annuelle de le Conseil des Technologies d'Information du Nouveau Brunswick aura lieu le Novembre 18 à partir de 15:00-17:00 au Centre des Arts et de la Culture à Dieppe. Les membres du public sont invités à y assister.

 

 

 

NBITC unveils blueprint for tech rejuvenation

The New Brunswick Information Technology Council released its new plain-speaking report to Premier David Alward that outlines needed solutions required for the province’s technology sector.

The report, entitled Growing the ICT Sector and written on behalf of the Premier’s Advisory Council on Technology, reiterates that the private sector and government must “be in lock step” if New Brunswick is to get back on the global technology map.

Additional Students Accepted into the Class of 2011

The New Brunswick IT Council is very pleased to announce an additional seven candidates have been accepted into its Class of 2011 Program.  Jenna Tyler, Andrew Mathis, Sam Lavoie, Ryker Hatch, Tanner Young, Ashley Hyslop, and Cody McCormack join the ten individuals selected earlier this year.  The students are all being guaranteed jobs by New Brunswick based companies, provided they graduate from a mutually agreeable technology related post-secondary degree or diploma program.

Council Announces Intent to Create "Technology and Innovation" EMBA Cohort

The NB IT Council is looking for a few good men, women and companies to participate in the formation of a Technology and Innovation oriented EMBA cohort in 2012.

"New Brunswick is going to need leaders who understand how to leverage technology strategically to enable growth and improve the performance of their organizations, regardless of whether we're talking about the private or public sector.  This is one of the initiatives the Council is undertaking towards that end", said Geoff Flood, Chair of the NBITC.

NBITC Announces Successful Candidates for Class of 2011

 The New Brunswick Information Technology Council is pleased to announce the first ten selections for the Class of 2011.  The successful candidates hail from Kingston, Strathadam, Fredericton, Saint John, Burton, and Nauwigewauk, and will be pursing ICT related degree or diploma programs at Community Colleges and Universities in New Brunswick.  On completing their programs of choice and graduating in the top half of their class, they will be offered full time work with one of the companies participati
